Job Description

Overview

Seeking 1.0 FTE (MF 40 hours a week) Outpatient Child Abuse Nurse Practitioner Specialist for Legacy Salmon Creek Child Abuse Assessment Team in Vancouver WA.

Clinical Role includes:

  • Outpatient medical evaluations of children for suspected abuse and neglect.
  • Taking histories performing physical examinations obtaining physical findings photographs ordering needed cultures lab tests and imaging studies.
  • Performing overall health screenings with followup referrals.
  • Entering detailed legally acceptable timely reports into EMR of medical evaluations with signoff charge entry and accurate coding with inclusion of diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.
  • Contacting internal and outside agencies to ensure understanding of relevant information with timely debrief to develop cooperative followup plan.
  • Participating in peer review and quality assurance.
  • Requesting peer review on cases that pose diagnostic problems.
  • Telephone consultations on medical aspects of suspected abuse.
  • Triage and engagement with five county multidisciplinary teams for coordinated child abuse response.
  • Expert testimony when subpoenaed to depositions or trials with integration of current research and be a resource for staff preparing for court.
  • Attending child abuse professional training for medical providers.

Education:As required by licensure:

  • Experience:Pediatric APP with 3 years or greater experience in Child Abuse Pediatrics. This position entails clinical consults in outpatient hospital clinic.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current applicable state RN license required. National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
  • Current applicable state license as a Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NPPP).

Qualifications:

As a condition of hire and throughout employment the role requires child abuse background checks through the DHS Child Abuse registry check. If a record exists findings will be reported back to CAAT and addressed in accordance with program policies.
