What youll do

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Academic Chair School of Trades and Transportation and under the direct supervision of the Schools program Faculty you will provide laboratory/shop program and administrative support for Trades and Transportation programs.
  • You will maintain the laboratory/shop by managing the lab/shop environment media and/or equipment preparation and maintenance of the inventory system for lab/shop supplies. Additionally you will assist with lab/shop demonstrations; provide administrative preparation for the lab/shop assist with technology needs including computers; and work with students Faculty and staff in a laboratory/shop setting.
  • You will also assist in classroom and lab/shop demonstrations and prepare projects and mockups in advance of the need. You will assist Faculty with the safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant postsecondary diploma or certification in the appropriate related discipline such as relevant Interprovincial Red Seal endorsed Certificate of Qualification in the relevant trade(s) or engineering technology diplomas such as electrical and mechanical.
  • In addition you possess training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid CPR and discipline relevant safety training or you have a willingness to obtain within the first year.
  • You have a minimum of five years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in purchase ordering and inventory control as it pertains to a shop/warehouse environment.
  • Occupational experience that includes customer service skills would be considered an asset. As well the ability to monitor and document the safety practices of the campuss shops spaces in accordance to the colleges safety policies.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite Email and MS Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset
