Position: Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Advanced and Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing
Effective Date: August 18 2025 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74652 to $158688/per year. The anticipated hiring range is $101760 to $104940/per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Ph.D. in Materials Science Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1 2025.
Demonstrated potential or effectiveness in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
Demonstrated potential for successful research scholarly and creative activities
Specialization in broad areas of material science advanced manufacturing and clean energy
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population including Black/African American Latine/x Native American/Indigenous lowincome firstgeneration and minoritized students
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduatelevel courses in any area of Materials Science and Engineering including but not limited to emerging and rapidly developing areas such as material design and synthesis advanced manufacturing clean energy AI application materials and manufacturing related electronic materials and smart manufacturing
Ability to develop and lead learning activities that foster student innovation and creativity
Experience in areas of advanced materials and manufacturing with applications to mechanical and aerospace engineering disciplines
Expertise in theoretical experimental and/or computational
Demonstrated ability to develop courses laboratories and academic programs
Ability to supervise student theses and projects
Active participation in academic governance
A record of academic publication and research activity commensurate in one of more of the emerging areas of mechanical or aerospace engineering
Demonstrated success or history of external funding for research
Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body (Demographics)
Experience mentoring or supporting students with minoritized identities or experience using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineerings Advanced Materials and Manufacturing areas as well as undergraduate fundamental courses in Mechanical Engineering curriculum Mode of instruction may include inperson hybrid online and/or any combination thereof.
Develop new courses and update existing courses including laboratories
Supervise student projects and theses
Write grant proposals and seek research funding
Conduct independent and collaborative research leading to publications and external funding
Participate in service to the department college university and community
