Job Description

Job Objective: The objective for the PressBrake Operator is set up operate CNC press brake to bend notch punch form arc orstraighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint orsketch specifications by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

  • Selects positions andaligns dies in machine ram and bed.
  • Turns setscrews or boltsto fasten clap bar that holds dies in position.
  • Starts machine to lowerram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal.
  • Programs stop on machinebed and repositions stock to run successive pieces or to perform multipleoperations.
  • Verifies dimensions ofwork piece.
  • Performs First ArticleInspection as required.
  • Grinds laps or burrs fromedges of work piece.
  • Devises and buildstemporary dies.
  • Manually programscontroller to required specifications.

CMC Expectations of aSuccessful Press Brake Operator:

  • Maintain a safe work area.
  • Understand barcode system.
  • Understanding of lockout/tag out procedures and ability to use when appropriate.
  • Complete maintenance asdictated by maintenance program.
  • Maintain a high level ofproductivity and quality.
  • Follow work centerprocedures (process control) as outlined in the Quality Manual and Procedures.
  • Keep work area clean andorganized.
  • Must be able to understandand follow instructions given in job folders or on routers.
  • Documentand notify Quality of any discrepancies and/or nonconformances.
  • Accuratelydocument work on the production work order and note any changes and/orrecommendations that are needed for future runs.
  • Inspectfinished products and parts by comparing them with drawings/blueprints and/orsamples to verify that customers specifications are met. Document inspectionsby completing production work order.
  • Identifyany fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material orequipment and then notify Production Supervisor and/or Project Management.
  • Consistentlyand accurately clock in and out record total quantity and s of productionwork orders using the MieTrak kiosk.
  • Ability to use grindersand other hand tools as necessary.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Followand support CMC safety requirements such as wearing the Personal ProtectiveEquipment (PPE).
  • Readyto work from the start of the shift until the end.
  • Followall company policies for example Quality Safety and Employee Manuals.

Skills of Press BrakeOperator:

  • Math Skills: Basic math skills (additionsubtraction multiplication division; use of calculator) will help Press BrakeOperators understand instructions how plans work and make sure items are cut bentformed etc. correctly.
  • Measuring Tool Usage: The use of measuring equipment isnecessary to make sure quality specifications are met.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Press Brake Operators will needto know when machines are not at peak performance how to increase output andhow to fix errors.
  • Attention to Detail: Press Brake Operators will beresponsible for detailed forms bends and shaping. Being observant and safe iscritical to the overall wellbeing of the employee and his/her coworkers. Inaddition Press Brake Operators must take great care in their work as itreflects not only visually but in the quality of the completed contract.
  • Stamina: Press Brake Operators often work long hours doing repetitivemovements.

Preferred:

  • Able to lift up to 50 assistance and stand for long periods of time.
  • Certificate from technicalschool; and/or three to six months related experience and/or training.

Job Type: Fulltime

Collins Manufacturing Company reservesthe right to conduct onthejob training for applicants that do not meet allcriteria. A minimum of 160 hours ofonthejob training will be required.
