Electrical Technician
Job Summary:
The Electrical Technician will maintain and troubleshoot PLC control systems motor controls and VFDs instrumentation networks and production plant equipment to include assisting in preventative and routine maintenance on all equipment. These repairs will be performed with a sense of urgency and accuracy to help minimize / ensure there are no disruptions to plant operations.
Job Duties:
- Thoroughly troubleshoot all problems and areas of concern.
- Assist in performing preventative and routine maintenance on equipment and on the building.
- Complete all work in a timely manner with quality and pride.
- Check operating equipment throughout the plant periodically during the shift to identify potential problems and/or areas of concern to minimize / eliminate instances of failure.
- Immediately and effectively communicate all problems and concerns with the Controls Engineer Maintenance Manager Manufacturing Manager Line Supervisors and Specialists.
- Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
- Work in a professional manner with all employees and with outside contractors.
- Attend and successfully complete various training classes throughout the year as assigned.
- Knowledge of and willingness to learn the startup shut down and repair of boilers.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree preferred in related field with 2 years of related experience (or equivalent experience).
- Competency with Siemens PLCs Simatic Manager and TIA Portal.
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial networks such as EthernetIP Profinet Profibus DP.
- Knowledge of Siemens Baumuller and Danfoss VFDs and the ability to troubleshoot wire and program the drives.
- Knowledge of PID control loops.
- Demonstrated proficiency in control circuitry instrumentation hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Must have excellent and proven mechanical ability with previous electrical experience. Welding experience is a plus.
- Ideal candidate has previous experience working in a manufacturing / production plant environment.
- Able to work on and successfully complete multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Must have proper hand tools needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- The normal work schedule is a 223 12hour schedule.
- Schedule flexibility is required to support plant operations. This includes the willingness to work weekends and holidays and on planned / unplanned tasks as needed.
- Knowledge and application of basic 110480volt electrical theory
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Versed in troubleshooting techniques
- Must have excellent communication skills and a positive can do attitude.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480 VAC including but not limited to electric motors motor control centers circuit breakers wiring and lighting.
- Use test equipment to configure and calibrate electronic components (such as pressure temperature flow and level transmitters) of industrial control systems.
- Document and file calibrations.
- Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Work within the plant work order system to complete work to support operations.
