Transition Specialist
Blue Ridge Juvenile Center Education Program
202526 School Year
FullTime 11 months 240 days)/year
The Blue Ridge Juvenile Center Education Program is seeking a Transition Specialistfor the 202526 School Year.
Candidates must hold a valid collegiate or postgraduate professional license inSpecial Educationand demonstrate a strong commitment to working with atrisk youth.
Ideal candidates will have:
- A deep understanding of traumainformed care in the classroom.
- Experience differentiating instruction in multigrade level settings.
- A passion for supporting students academic vocational and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- STC Coordinator Oversee the coordination administration and proctoring of Standards of Learning (SOL) testing.
- Vocational Coordinator Develop implement and manage daily vocational learning activities and certification programs.
- Literacy Coordinator Lead the STAR literacy program and oversee library services.
- GED Coordinator Collaborate with the principal to implement GED program components schedule exams and coordinate testing dates.
- CPP/CAP Coordinator Provide casemanagementstyle educational and support services for youth in DJJ custody.
- Academic Support Assist students in improving their academic performance through group and oneonone instruction.

BRJC Education Program offers:612 SOL core curriculum onsite GED testing ISAEP Art PE Greenhouse participation Character Education SOL testing and remediation all diploma options SAT/ACT prep college placement exams SPED services certificate programs (OSHA Servsafe EverFi) WISE testing virtual simulators handson vocational opportunities fullservice library access to online learning such as APEX and Connexus community college online classes through PVCC and postgraduate support.
