In this position...

The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical handson role responsible for the assembly modification maintenance and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings specifications and instructions.
  • Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical mechanical and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues.
  • Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed including modifications repairs and test results.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities.
  • Assist in the development of assembly and repair procedures.
  • Manage inventory of parts and materials.




Qualifications

Youll have

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience as an automotive technician preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools diagnostic equipment and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical documents.
  • Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical mechanical hydraulic etc..
  • Basic computer skills Diagnostic Vehicle Tools CAN Software etc.

Even better you may have...

  • Associates degree or technical certification in automotive technology
  • Experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
