Job Description
In this position...
The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical handson role responsible for the assembly modification maintenance and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings specifications and instructions.
- Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements.
- Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical mechanical and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues.
- Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed including modifications repairs and test results.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities.
- Assist in the development of assembly and repair procedures.
- Manage inventory of parts and materials.
Qualifications
Youll have
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 35 years of experience as an automotive technician preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools diagnostic equipment and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical documents.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical mechanical hydraulic etc..
- Basic computer skills Diagnostic Vehicle Tools CAN Software etc.

- Associates degree or technical certification in automotive technology
- Experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
