Job Description

Must be eligible or complete licensure requirements for Special Education Adapted Curriculum K12 within first 3 years of hire/assignment.

TEN MONTHS 200 DAYS) INCLUDING IN PART PAID STATE RETIREMENT & STATE MANDATED LIFE INSURANCE & IN PART FOR HEALTH INSURANCE

General Definition of Work:

Under direction of the school principal plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual physical social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students parents staff and community. Develop select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment materials and facilities.

  • Create and deliver instruction following the Aligned Standards of Learning utilizing a variety of adaptive methods to address the unique cognitive communication and behavioral needs of students with significant disabilities.
  • Plan and provide assessment activities to demonstrate student learning through the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP).
  • Create and deliver instruction to address individual functional skills needs related to communication behavior social and daily living skills.
  • Establish and maintain a highly structured learning environment that promotes wholegroup smallgroup and individual learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to create meaningful inclusion opportunities for students with significant disabilities.
  • Collaborate with a variety of schoolbased teams to develop individualized plans to promote student academic adaptive and behavioral success.
  • Apply a wide range of adaptive strategies and interventions to promote instructional access.
  • Administer a variety of assessment and data collection practices to monitor student progress.
