Overview
Certified Cancer Registrar East Tennessee Cancer Registry
Full time 72 Hours Per Pay Period Day Shift
Position is home based but in person meetings are sometimes required.

Thompson Cancer Survival Center (TCSC) was founded to bring worldclass cancer care to East Tennessee. Our doctors have the support of a complete team: Dieticians genetics counselors physicists pharmacists therapists technologists oncology nurses social workers and others are all there to treat and beat the disease.
Therapies pioneered at Thompson have transformed and saved the lives of hundreds of East Tennessee cancer patients while progressive clinical trials have brought the most advanced new cancer medicines to this area. In addition to the original downtown location there are TCSC facilities in West Knoxville Oak Ridge Sevierville and Morristown.
Position Summary:
The Certified Cancer Registrar should possess the technical knowledge and skills necessary to maintain the components of cancerrelated data collections systems in a manner consistent with all requirements of the health care delivery system; medical administrative ethical legal and regulatory.

Responsibilities
- Maintain independent offsite cancer registry
- Organizes and staffs cancer conferences
- Staffing for cancer committee
- Liaison to physicians
- Processes maintains compiles and reports health information data for
- Research
- Quality assessment
- Facility Planning
- Marketing
- Physician information
- Abstracts and codes clinical data using appropriate classification systems
- Stages cancer patients according to AJCC and SEER staging systems
- Handles daytoday operation of the registry
- Attends meetings and serves on committees or teams as required
- Completes patient care evaluation studies with survival data
- Monitors quality assessment program
- Cancer abstracting for Tennessee State Reporting System contracting facilities
- Travel as necessary to contracting facilities
- Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as and preparation of registry statistics
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Three 3 Years Cancer Registry Experience. Good computer skills good communication skills medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. Abstracting experience (at least one year) preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Cert Tumor Registrar (CTUR) is required. Employee must have a valid Tennessee drivers license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
