Childrens Mercy is expanding our consultation/liaison (C/L) team. We are excited to recruit two new faculty positions to provide inpatient psychiatry consultation including to a new med/surg unit that will open in early 2026 and will be designed for and dedicated to patients with acute or chronic medical conditions who need a higher level of behavioral health support.
These faculty will work with our current C/L team to support psychiatry consultation across the hospital as well as to our new dedicated med/surg unit. We treat a diverse spectrum of psychiatric conditions including catatonia delirium autism spectrum disorders functional neurologic disorders and eating disorders. Caring for patients in an outpatient clinic may also be part of this position.
Childrens Mercy has a thriving interdisciplinary C/L service including psychology psychiatry and masters and doctoral level BCBAs. We are excited that our hospital has invested in expansion of inpatient behavioral health services including a dedicated med/surg unit. Our child psychiatry team includes ten child and adolescent psychiatrists and two psychiatric nurse practitioners serving inpatient and ambulatory specialties.
These positions include protected academic time for service research and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring and hospitalwide educational programs are available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g. program evaluation quality improvement initiatives). Our psychiatrists are an integral part of our training program and routinely teach students residents and fellows. This position carries an academic appointment at the University of MissouriKansas City School of Medicine with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.
