Job Description


Location: Henderson NC

Job Summary:

We are seeking a handson highly skilled Plant Operations Manager to oversee the daytoday operations of our ReadyMix Concrete and Block Plant facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient plant operations equipment maintenance regulatory compliance and staff management. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical hydraulic and electrical systems and experience working in a highpaced industrial or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on concrete plant equipment including batching systems silos boilers air compressors and conveyors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic electrical and mechanical systems; coordinate with OEMs like Besser and MPAQ.
  • Manage calibration and functionality checks of batching scales moisture testers air pots slump cones and other QC equipment.
  • Oversee and document boiler inspections (twice annually) air quality inspections and chemical/water testing.

Production Management

  • Set and adjust production schedules for both concrete and block manufacturing.
  • Order raw materials including cement sand aggregates and admixtures.
  • Maintain production and batching records including moisture calculations and load tickets.

Regulatory Compliance & Certifications

  • Ensure compliance with DOT NCDOT and OSHA requirements including plant certifications equipment inspections and employee safety training.
  • Manage documentation for NCDOT mix designs SDS sheets water quality reports and stormwater permits.
  • Track and maintain technician certifications and schedule recertifications as needed.

Staff & HR Support

  • Assist with hiring training and onboarding new employees.
  • Evaluate personnel needs and manage staffing to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Support with scheduling safety meetings hearing tests and background/physical checks.
  • Address employee concerns and contribute to an organized and safe workplace.

Logistics & Equipment

  • Track truck maintenance schedule services and monitor recall actions.
  • Assist with dispatch and batching during peak periods.
  • Help evaluate and procure new trucks forklifts loaders and batching systems.
  • Ensure parts inventory and sourcing for conveyors mixers and other machinery.

General Support

  • Assist mechanics and loader/forklift operations as needed.
  • Respond to job site issues and support concrete quality control (e.g. mix design evaluation sand performance).
  • Maintain uptodate logs for block and concrete production inspections and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in concrete manufacturing plant operations or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of batching systems hydraulics electrical control systems (e.g. PLCs) and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT and OSHA regulations including plant certification standards.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fastpaced environment.
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting equipment and coordinating with external vendors.

Preferred Certifications:

  • NCDOT Batch Field and Mix Design Technician Certifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Forklift Operator Certification
  • OSHA Safety Certification
