Job Title:Student Worker After School Counselor YMCA of Central Texas/Greater Waco

Job Classification:Community Service Student

Department: Off Campus Community Service

Work Schedule:Monday through Friday 2:30 pm to 6 pm

Desired Length of Employment:Fall 2024 / Spring 2025

Pay Rate:$13.00 $14.00

Job Description:

The AfterSchool Counselor is a professional role model that provides direct supervision of a group of children in an afterschool program. The Counselor creates positive nurturing relationships with children while promoting the potential of all youth in the program and facilitating peertopeer connections.

  • Responsible for supervising schoolage children in purposeful afterschool activities that contribute to their growth and development.
  • Plans implements and participates in activities that are culturally relevant developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents children and other staff.
  • Models relationshipbuilding skills in all interactions.
  • Possess emotional maturity and be sensitive to childrens needs.
  • Must be reliable with a good attendance record.
  • Satisfactory results of background check through Child Care Licensing FBI fingerprints reference check preemployment drug screen and sex offender check.
  • Must attend PreService Training prior to first day of work.
  • Must complete CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.

All applicants must be Federal Work Study (FWS) Eligible.

  • Provide support and assistance in a respective area of community service
  • Assist with various projects activities or tasks related to community service
  • Provide excellent customer service to constituents
  • Utilize available resources to perform duties accordingly
  • Serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
  • Must be federal work study eligible
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
