Job Description:
The AfterSchool Counselor is a professional role model that provides direct supervision of a group of children in an afterschool program. The Counselor creates positive nurturing relationships with children while promoting the potential of all youth in the program and facilitating peertopeer connections.
- Responsible for supervising schoolage children in purposeful afterschool activities that contribute to their growth and development.
- Plans implements and participates in activities that are culturally relevant developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents children and other staff.
- Models relationshipbuilding skills in all interactions.
- Possess emotional maturity and be sensitive to childrens needs.
- Must be reliable with a good attendance record.
- Satisfactory results of background check through Child Care Licensing FBI fingerprints reference check preemployment drug screen and sex offender check.
- Must attend PreService Training prior to first day of work.
- Must complete CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
All applicants must be Federal Work Study (FWS) Eligible.
- Provide support and assistance in a respective area of community service
- Assist with various projects activities or tasks related to community service
- Provide excellent customer service to constituents
- Utilize available resources to perform duties accordingly
- Serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
- Must be federal work study eligible
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
