Job Description

Title: Kindergarten & Lower School (K4 Learning Support SpecialistThe Miami Valley School (MVS). Here we learn because we Role. MVS is seeking a dynamic innovative kindergarten and lower school (K4 Learning Support Specialist who is committed to inclusivity in all they do. The ideal candidate is passionate and skillful as an intervention specialist eager to invest their talents in implementing the MVS specific Learning Support program in collaboration with the learning support specialists supporting other grade levels. This position provides Kindergarten to 4th grade learning support program oversight and instruction including daytoday management of student academic learning support. The Learning Support Specialist works closely with the EC and lower school division director school counselor and teachers to provide support for individual Opportunity. You will have the privilege of being a supportive resource and guidepost for students families faculty and : Demonstrate a commitment to culturally inclusive curricula and inclusive classroom the importance of ongoing professional developmentAlign practices with the Learning Support Program as outlined in the HandbookDevelop a lifelong appreciation for exploration of ideas and reading for pleasure in their studentsCollaborate with the Learning Support Team to develop continuity of the Learning Support Program from kindergarten through 12th gradeParticipate fully in the life of the lower schoolEffectively communicate as needed with students parents faculty and administratorsDemonstrates a collaborative and collegial spirit building rapport with other members of the administration faculty staff parents and studentsEmbraces the vision of Mastery Teaching and Mastery Performance in their daily activitiesCompassionately engage inspire and nurture studentsDemonstrate passion for teaching and learningDemonstrate knowledge and expertise in the field of learning supportPrimary Responsibilities:Review/maintain student records/files analyze psychoeducational reports and provide recommendations based on these reportsProvide academic support for studentsConsult with Director of Learning Support on admissions applications to anticipate needs of future studentsSupport assigned students receiving accommodations through MVS Learning Support SystemConsult with faculty members administration parents and outside professionals regularly to monitor student progress and amend Learning Profile as neededMeet with students to discuss and develop strategies for learning difficultiesParticipate fully in the life of the school particularly the January Immersion term. Qualifications:Undergraduate or Masters Degree in Special Education or Intervention SpecialistIntervention Specialist licensure Knowledge of various learning styles and the impact of disabilities on learningExperience working in a lower school settingBenefits.
