PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The District AtRisk Social Worker under the supervision of Executive Director of Student and Family Support Services will provide districtwide support through the supervisory services necessary for planning development implementation and evaluation of an effective program. The purpose of this job is to serve as K12 district atrisk Social Worker to assist atrisk students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
  • Valid licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.

Nonrefundable fee (approximately $50.00 paid by the employee

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Working Knowledge of community family life and Social and Emotional Learning
  • Knowledge of state and federal mandates as they apply to social services
  • Knowledge of individual and group counseling skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Knowledge and skill in casework methods
  • Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers parents and students
  • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies including behavior management interventions
  • Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to present information in oneonone small group and large group situations to students parents and district staff

Experience

  • Minimum of three 3 of related experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Addresses the needs of students identified as atrisk
  • Serves campuses by identifying and providing the tools resources and skills necessary for them to help students identified atrisk become academically successful
  • Works solely with the student population identified as atrisk as noted in reporting under the Texas Education Code State Compensatory Education program
  • Assists campus in the development and implementation of strong AtRisk parent programs that will provide parents with the information skills and resources necessary to positively influence their childrens learning and development
  • Provide crisis intervention with students families and campus staff by providing immediate assessment triage and therapeutic assistance to minimize the impact of trauma to students
  • Conduct assessments for suicide nonsuicidal selfharm and harm to others. Collaborate with key parties to develop campus student and home safety plans
  • Ability to work cooperatively collaboratively and effectively with students families staff and the community
  • Guard client confidentiality by being knowledgeable of and adhering to both FERPA and HIPAA regulations
  • Provide mental health consultation for school and district staff. Provide ongoing feedback to referring parties school personnel and students
  • Utilize various assessment instruments and techniques as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine appropriate intervention strategies
  • Utilizes appropriate computer resources learning information systems and email to support instruction assessment and research for campus AtRisk programs needs
  • Inputs and evaluates data utilizing Excel Spreadsheet for analyzing and assessing the campus AtRisk programs.
  • Maintains/assists in maintenance of accurate student information for AtRisks programs as aligned with The Texas Education Agency State Compensatory Education
  • Collaboration with Principal and Counselor on implementation of Social and Emotional Programs
  • Counseling Services Develop and maintain a cumulative record for each student receiving services; applies for SHARS reimbursement (as assigned/needed)
  • Verbal and/or written contact with parentguardians regarding the students progress and concerns of staff student and parent. Home visits can be arranged
  • Development of unique motivational concepts to encourage and motivate students
  • Development of character education plans per student meeting specific needs (i.e. Conflict resolution anger management time management)
  • Active academic tracking and monitoring of atrisk students served
  • Ability to adjust and modify program implementation to best serve students evidenced in positive academic growth
  • Promotes learning through designing innovative/tailored/learning opportunities and resources for students
  • Fosters positive school/organizational relationships and employ effective communication skills
  • Serves campuses by identifying and providing the tools resources and skills necessary for them to help students identified atrisk become academically successful
  • Provide training support and meetings for parents and students to foster development in social and emotional learning interventions
  • Works collaboratively with the administration
  • Will work with Child Protective Services (CPS) and instruct staff on utilizing Child Protective Services and other protective services to enhance students social and academic success
  • Participate in staff meetings case conferences professional development and training to increase clinical skills and improve outcomes for critical cases
  • Comply with departmental policies legal requirements and professional ethical and quality of care standards (Should be on every counselor and sw job description)
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Educators Code of Ethics
  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however the supervision of students is required.

Environmental Factors:

  • Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold) humidity extremes noise low or intense illumination vibration
  • Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases bacteria insects mold fungi etc. work outside work around moving objects or vehicles work on uneven surfaces work alone work prolonged or irregular hours.
