Job Description

Job Description Summary
Chapman Universitys Office of Community Relations serves as a liaison between the University and the residents government officials civic organizations and businesses that call our local communities their home. Our team is seeking a friendly and serviceoriented Community Relations Manager who will assist with strategic outreach and engagement activities that support positive towngown relations in the neighborhoods that surround Chapmans campuses. They will organize events oversee marketing and communications initiatives and serve as a community liaison and resource for students. Additionally the Manager provides administrative and operational support to the Vice President and department which includes responding to a wide variety of requests; drafting editing and preparing final versions of correspondence; processing financial documents and allocation reports; and executing special projects as assigned. The Manager will also supervise a team of student employees.

Responsibilities
Community Relations Serve as a firstlevel liaison to the neighborhood and address inquiries and concerns that are submitted to the Office of Community Relations. Work to address any issues with appropriate internal departments and/or external organizations. Collaborate with internal and external partners on initiatives geared towards promoting collaboration positive neighbor relations and overall neighborhood enhancement. Work closely with Chapman students to educate and promote a good neighbor framework. Cultivate relationships with student organizations and organize communitybased events and programs including fall semester canvassing and spring moveout. Events Marketing and Communications Collaborate with Strategic Marketing and Communications on content design and production for snail mail digital and social platforms. Ensure that specifications and deadlines are met. Manage and update department website produce and disseminate newsletters & enewsletters oversee social media accounts. Collaborate with Event Operations on event ticketing manage events in campuswide software 25Live). Oversee logistics for various meetings working with catering/event staff as needed. Represent Community Relations at internal and external meetings and events. Operations Management Manage and reconcile department expenditures and noncompensation budget lines including addressing variances resolving issues recommending funding sources and preparing drafts for yearly operational and capital enhancement requests in accordance with the Universitys fiscal policies and practices. Perform budget transfers submit purchase orders and nonPO requests and allocate PCard reports. Utilize software to track expenditures (PeopleSoft). Process Independent Consultant Agreements and serve as Legal Affairs point of contact for contracts. Submit work orders for Facilities and IS&T as needed. Stock order and maintain supplies printed materials and office necessities. Oversee hiring and supervision of student employees. Specialized Administrative Support Provide support to the Vice President of Community Relations such meeting coordination preparing agendas and presentation materials and executing special projects. Support entitlement work and government relations activities as requested.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years of related progressively responsible experience Skilled in project management. Must have experience with organizing complex tasks and working on multiple projects simultaneously under conditions of pressure and competing interests. Strong oral written and culturally competent communication skills including excellent use of grammar and proven ability to prepare edit and proofread documents. Ability to learn retain and utilize technology including Microsoft 365 and Google Suite. Excellent customer service including the ability to foster effective relationships and work with a diverse group of individuals from within and outside the university community. Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment and to work with reasonable independence. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to consistently conduct oneself in a tactful and diplomatic manner. Marketing savvy with a general understanding of social media management. Basic accounting skills and ability to monitor budget and expenses.
