Job Purpose
Herc Rentals is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to help manage our enterprise data efforts including managing and optimizing our Teradata data warehouse developing robust ETL processes and supporting critical Data Applications. This role will ensure that our data infrastructure is robust secure and meets the diverse needs of our business operations.
This role is critical to supporting the data needs of the entire organization and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively to drive data initiatives forward. What you will do...
- Work with business leaders and business partners to help create and deliver comprehensive data strategy for Herc Rentals.
- Help manage the Teradata data warehouse ensuring data accuracy integrity and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes using PagerDuty Python and ConnectCDC connect to all primary enterprise systems both on premises and in the cloud.
- Support and enhance Data Apps written in to meet various business requirements.
- Collaborate with Information Security to identify and remediate vulnerabilities within the data infrastructure.
- Work closely with business partners to understand their data needs and provide strategic innovative solutions.
- Ensure data governance and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data engineering in a large scale data warehouse preferably in Teradata.
- Strong experience writing complex efficient SQL queries against large datasets.
- Strong understanding of data security practices and experience working with information security teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with business partners and stakeholders.
- Detailoriented strategic thinker with an innovative approach to problemsolving.
- Experience with Qlik Python PagerDuty and/or ConnectCDC for supporting and enhancing data applications a plus.
Skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners translating requirements into a product vision and roadmap
- Must be able to meet critical deadlines for highvisibility projects and work constructively while under pressure
- Must be strong with Python and popular packages such as Pandas and Flask
- Must be familiar with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)
- Familiarity with change management and version control best practices
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills
- Excellent presentation and soft skills able to present complex technical concepts to business partners and senior management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
