POSITION SUMMARY:
- Providestudentsin need of supplemental instructional assistance with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with the required certification and/or required training for subject and level assigned(May include ESL Bilingual Dyslexia Special Education or Subjectspecific)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Meet the Texas Educator Equity certification requirements as adopted by the State Board for Educator Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of core subjects assigned
- Advanced knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge in intervention strategies when working with students
- Ability to gather and present educational data (e.g. program monitoring documentation of intervention)
Experience:
- At least five years of successful teaching experience in the assigned level/subject
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Strategies:
- Work with individual student and/or groups of students in order to fulfill the requirements of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (Including RtI IEP LPAC and 504 plans for individual students)
- Provide specially designed instruction and/or inclusion support to students who need special education
- Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations
- Plan and work cooperatively with classroom teachers to provide additional appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and academic needs of students assigned
- Participate in ARD LPAC RtI and 504 meetings as directed by individual student needs
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the ARD LPAC RtI and/or 504 committees
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of each student assigned
- Use technology in the teaching/learning process
- Alternative methods of instruction
- All other duties as assigned

- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district
Classroom Management & Organization:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
- Assist in selecting books equipment and other instructional materials
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required
Communication:
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents students colleagues and community members
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
Professional Growth and Development:
- Participate in staff development activities to improve jobrelated skills
- Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required. (This may include Time and Effort documentation IEP updates 504 RtI or LPAC documentation.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise assigned instructional paraprofessionals
