Severe/Profound Special Education Teacher

Summary:
The Severe/Profound Special Education Teacher is responsible for the education and care of students with severe and profound disabilities. This includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) providing instruction in a variety of settings and collaborating with parents other teachers and support staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents teachers and other professionals
- Provide instruction in a variety of settings including selfcontained classrooms general education classrooms and community settings
- Collaborate with parents other teachers and support staff to meet the needs of students with severe and profound disabilities
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Maintain accurate and uptodate records
- Participate in professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in special education or a related field
- Valid teaching license in the state of employment
- Experience working with students with severe and profound disabilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with behavior management
- Experience with assistive technology
- Experience with transition planning
- Bilingual skills
