Job Description
Overview
The SAP ABAP Consultant specializing in CDS ODATA and S/4HANA plays a critical role in the successful implementation and customization of SAP solutions within an organization. As an integral part of the SAP development team this position is responsible for designing building and maintaining ABAP applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability of SAP systems. The consultant will collaborate closely with functional teams to understand requirements translating them into technical specifications. Furthermore the consultant will utilize Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) skills to enhance the functionality of the system while adhering to best practices and industry standards. This role also involves performing system upgrades bug fixes and code optimizations making it essential for organizations to leverage the full capabilities of their SAP S/4HANA environment. Ultimately the SAP ABAP Consultant ensures that the organization maximizes its investment in SAP technology delivering quality solutions that drive business efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom ABAP programs based on functional specifications.
- Create and manage Core Data Services (CDS) views for efficient data access.
- Implement OData services to enhance SAP Fiori applications.
- Collaborate with functional analysts to gather and review business requirements.
- Optimize existing ABAP code for improved system performance.
- Participate in system upgrades and migrations to S/4HANA.
- Conduct regular system analysis and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
- Develop technical documentation for ABAP programs and changes.
- Provide support in unit testing and code reviews.
- Integrate SAP and nonSAP systems as needed.
- Implement best practices for ABAP development and code management.
- Participate in project planning and status updates with stakeholders.
- Assist in knowledge transfer and training to junior developers.
- Ensure compliance with security standards in all ABAP developments.
- Work on performance tuning of database queries and applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- 46 years of experience as an SAP ABAP Developer.
- Proficiency in ABAP with handson experience in CDS and OData.
- Strong understanding of the SAP S/4HANA architecture and functionalities.
- Experience with performance tuning in ABAP and SQL queries.
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts and database structures.
- Familiarity with SAP Fiori UI development.
- Experience in integration techniques within SAP ecosystems.
- Proven problemsolving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills to translate complex requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience with version control systems for code management.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and SAP project lifecycles.
- SAP certification in ABAP or related technologies is a plus.
