Job Description

As part of the continued growth and innovation of our dynamic Impact Assessment & Planning service ERM has an opportunity for a midlevel Biologist to join our thriving global consulting firm as a biologist in Northern California. Primarily this position will provide deskbased biological expertise to largescale utility projects in northern California (the location for this position is negotiable but ideally northern California). We seek an individual to join the ERMs planning biological and environmental compliance team for an ongoing contract with a large California utility to support their Vegetation Management operations and maintenance activities

The ideal candidate will be an environmental professional familiar with wildlife plants and habitats in northern California with strong: technical writing skills organization and communication skills. The candidate will have experience with one or more of the following: technical writing skills; environmental regulations and policies such as ESA CESA or the California Coastal Act; specialstatus plants and animals. The biologist must be able to work well with others as part of a collaborative and dynamic team of environmental professionals. This is primarily a deskbased role with opportunities for fieldwork.

ERMS IMPACT ASSESSMENT & PLANNING SERVICE:

ERMs Impact Assessment & Planning (IAP) team focuses on supporting development of projects in the power technology oil and gas mining chemical transport and infrastructure sectors. Our goal is always the same: assisting our clients in achieving project success from planning through construction and operation while minimizing sustainability risks and maximizing project speed and adaptability.

ERMs IAP service offering has been ERMs highest growth area globally growing over 20 per year for the past 5 years. You will become part of a vibrant technical community with more than 1000 IAP professionals globally representing the full range of technical disciplines with sector experience across the board. What ERMs team is best known for is supporting some of the most challenging development projects in the world. It is this reputation that attracts and retains the highly skilled consultants who comprise ERMs Impact Assessment & Planning team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop Biological Resource Assessments.
  • Support preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents ESA Biological Assessments CDFW 1602 permits and more.
  • Adhere to scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
  • Other assigned duties as required such as project coordination deputy project management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Biological Sciences or related field. Masters degree is desirable but not required. Or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years in environmental consulting/experience of biota in Northern California; prior experience in power sector is considered an asset.
  • Expertise with federal and state regulations including California Coastal Act CESA ESA and/or CEQA and environmental assessments.
  • Technical competency in environmental permitting.
  • Technical writing and analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent communication organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment
  • Positive outlook selfstarter who has a collaborative work ethic.
  • Strong commitment to safety including following established health and safety protocols.

For the Consultant Biologist (MidLevel) position we anticipate the annual base pay of $73145 $87932 USD. An employees pay position within this range will be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills geographic location performance shift travel requirements sales or revenuebased metrics and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employees fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
