Join a small team at Revenue Scotland focusing on riskbased compliance for Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT). This role offers the opportunity to engage with the public and tax professionals analyse risks and use formal powers to ensure tax is paid correctly. You will manage your own caseload use your analytical skills and contribute to continuous improvement in how we conduct our tax compliance activities.

We are looking for a motivated individual with strong problemsolving skills and the ability to operate in an evolving dont need to have a background in tax. We will support you to develop that knowledge. All you need is to have the skills and experience and a desire to learn and develop.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Engage and work with taxpayers agents and broader stakeholders to ensure compliance with tax obligations.
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of enquiry cases and projects.
  • Identify potential enquiry cases and projects through a risk assessment and analysis.
  • Provide accurate and timely technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement changes to tax policy processes and guidance.
  • Proactively identify and implement continuous improvements including streamlining processes.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of training modules.
  • Lead and manage teams providing direction and motivation.
  • Communicate and collaborate across boundaries.


Qualifications

Success Profile

Technical/Professional Skills:

  1. Management of Compliance and Risk. The ability to minimise risks by planning and managing towards accurate delivery against compliance customer/stakeholder relationships for the minimisation of risks.

Experience:

Experience in understanding complex information and effectively communicating it to a variety of audiences while gaining a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a system such as guidance IT systems legislation and customer behaviours.

Behaviours:

  • Making effective decisions Level 3.
  • Working together Level 3.

Working Pattern

Our standard hours are 35 hours per week we offer a range of flexible and hybrid working options. Our hybrid working principles require you to attend your assigned office Victoria Quay Edinburgh at least 2/3 days each month. Our hybrid approach supports a blend of home and workplace working this should be agreed with the line manager to achieve the right balance between collaboration inperson engagement and flexibility. You can also work from our Glasgow hub office if required.
