WHAT YOULL BE DOING
Assists in the development and implementation of transportation components of the Regions Transportation Master Plan in collaboration with external stakeholders.
Reviews and provides input to transportation impacts of Official Plans Official Plan Amendments Secondary Plans and major development applications through regular development application reviews and local planning appeal tribunal hearings/mediations.
Provides technical advice assistance and analysis to Regional departments municipalities consultants the public and external agencies as required.
Analyzes and makes recommendations on complex transportation issues associated with major studies and/or environmental assessments.
Represents the Region at technical meetings to promote the Regions interests in areas such as land use development review transportation data collection sharing of transportation data and coordination of common efforts in these areas.
Assists in the implementation and delivery of transportation demand management measures and related facilities in associated pedestrian and cycling facilities related to future developments and road projects.
Assists with the administration of Regionally led programs related to pedestrian cycling and other transportation management programs to implement infrastructure education and outreach programming.
Provides guidance and liaises with internal staff on capital plan projects to ensure design parameters and standards are incorporated.
Prepares Committee/Council reports briefing notes business cases and technical reports on transportation issues and projects.
Makes presentations to senior management stakeholders public and external agencies.
Plans and conducts public consultation centres focus groups and workshops as required.
Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns as appropriate.
Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
Participates on committees work groups task forces and special projects as assigned.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Successful completion of a University degree in Urban Planning Transportation Engineering or Planning or related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
Registration with a recognized professional planning or engineering organization.
Minimum three 3 years of demonstrated experience in transportation planning.
Thorough knowledge of transportation planning principles concepts practices methods and legislation GTA context and roles of different levels of government.
Demonstrated knowledge of transportation and environmental science modelling methodology transportation capacity analysis tools and techniques Transportation Demand Management measures pedestrian and cycling facilities planning transit systems roads planning and design standards.
Strong planning coordination collaboration and organizational skills.
Excellent research and analytical skills.
Strong ability to develop relationships and work in a welcoming and inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.
Ability to identify issues challenges and opportunities and propose solutions.
Ability to negotiate/facilitate build consensus and present information to varied audiences.
Ability to travel to offsite locations as required.
Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
