Job Description

This position develops and implements in demand aerospace education experiences tied to The Museum of Flights strategic plan. Organization and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders i.e. representatives from industry school systems and community are key to accomplishing the objectives of the position. The position will also evaluate feasibility impact and determine industry related value of implemented programs and work closely with internal stakeholders for marketing community engagement event planning and program alumni networks.

Summary

The Museum of Flights Program Manager Indemand Aerospace Careers is a significant member of the Boeing Academy for STEM Learning (BASL) the Museums education division. This position develops and implements aerospace education experiences related to the organizations strategic plan. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders including representatives from industry school systems and the community ensuring experiences that reflect aerospace industry needs as well as researchbased educational best practices. This person will help ensure the BASL mission and values are represented in programming. Critical to their success as a leader within the Museum this person leads their work with attention and focuses on building diverse and inclusive experiences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and manage the development implementation evaluation and required reporting of museum indemand aerospace career education programs.
  2. Lead in the work of designing refining and evaluating museum aerospace indemand career education programs that are aligned to Museum and Boeing Academy for STEM Learning for programs in collaboration with staff and other internal and external stakeholders in developing work plans for new expanding and continuing programming as well as integration of content into existing programming.
  3. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including schools and school districts institutions of higher education industry partners student groups families and community organizations dedicated to underrepresented and underresourced audiences and learners. Ensure agendas meeting notes and project summaries are prepared and distributed.
  4. Collaborate with marketing and community engagement staff to develop relevant strategies to attract diverse audiences.
  5. Evaluate feasibility impact and industry value of programs using appropriate data metrics and evaluation tools.
  6. Create manage and track strategic initiative goals including program budget and expenditures.
  7. Represent the Museum with schools and districts (e.g. teachers principals school counselors) institutions of higher education family and student organizations and community organizations to design partnerships and programs which are mutually beneficial.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree required with preference for a degree in education education administration and/or instructional design.
  • Five 5 years experience leading program development experiences preferably in education that also including management and budgetary responsibilities.
  • Three 3 years of experience successfully leading large and small teams in the planning and implementation of programs and events.
  • Previous instructional experience in formal and/or informal educational setting STEM fields preferred.

Knowledge

  • Deep practical knowledge of educational standards policies and procedures (including K12 learning standards and Career and Technical Education standards and policies) industry related certificates and Washington states dual credit systems.
  • Proven knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning which actively engages students families educators and administrators.
  • Proven knowledge and practical experience in curriculum and program development.
  • Specific knowledge and skills with professionally focused social media or willingness and ability to learn how to maintain social media or digital pages.

Skills

  • Demonstrated skills managing program goals budget and required reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal listening verbal and written communication skills using different forms of media.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint as well as management/data collection software such as MS Project Smartsheet Primavera etc.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment with a wide variety of individuals and departments.
  • Highly organized and able to set priorities and manage multiple events activities and program requirements (e.g. reporting) simultaneously with success.
  • Ability to establish solid working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to collaboratively lead and manage small and large diverse groups through the successful planning and implementation of programs and events.
  • Demonstrates having a creative innovative entrepreneurial and missiondriven aptitude.

License & Certification

  • Current Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.

  • This position works primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility for evening weekend and variable hours based on Museum need.
  • Onsite attendance is essential to perform some of the duties of this position.
  • Some local or out of area travel is expected for this position.

  • Able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • This position works under normal office conditions that include repetitive wrist and arm movement and long periods of sitting or standing.
  • The ability to bend carry reach to the side front and overhead push pull focus walk stand twist and squat are occasional requirements in a normal education or office setting.
  • Must be able to be physically active throughout the workday.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is$30.00to$41.00depending on experience.

A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following: scope of role within the organization years of relevant experience specific skills and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
