Job Description

DIOCESE OF ST. AUGUSTINE
ST. MICHAEL ACADEMY
HOUSEKEEPER
Reports To: Principal
FLSA: Nonexempt
Summary: St. Michael Academy is looking for a highenergy professional housekeeper who is able to attend to our facilities with integrity and attention to detail.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine heavy cleaning sweep mop scrub shampoo carpet dust wash remove trash etc. in an assigned area
  • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate
  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of all companyrelated practices
  • Physically be able to handle furniture machines and other heavy items
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor of housekeeping Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper
  • Must be able to read interpret and follow written instructions
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
  • Prioritization and time management skills
  • Work quickly without compromising quality
  • Friendly reliable and present a neat personal appearance
  • Willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; must be in full communion with the Church.
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of modern housekeeping including hygiene requirements
  • Knowledge skills and experience in handling household equipment
  • A thorough knowledge of the use of the tools and equipment associated with housekeeping
  • Excellent communications skills verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Exercise courtesy to fellow employees parishioners and the public
  • Must be a selfstarter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times; ability to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients vendors employees and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
There are three flights of stairs to maneuver while cleaning. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Must work in and around fumes and odors; exposure to cleaning agents.
