Location: Shawswick Elementary
Reports To: NLCS Superintendent Assistant Superintendent
Position Summary:
The Principal of Shawswick Elementary is responsible for the leadership supervision and evaluation of all academic and extracurricular programs within the school. This includes ensuring compliance with state standards and district policies guiding instructional improvement supporting staff development fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment and maintaining strong communication with students staff parents and the wider community.
Instructional Leadership:
Guide and coordinate the development and implementation of instructional programs in collaboration with staff and district leaders
Lead staff meetings and professional collaboration sessions to support school goals
Apply effective teaching methods and tailor instruction to diverse learning styles
Promote a vision for transformative teaching and studentcentered learning
Work with staff to implement schoolwide initiatives that support student wellness and socialemotional learning
Foster a datainformed culture that uses assessment and research to improve teaching and learning
Oversee and implement all components of the teacher evaluation system
School Operations:
Establish and maintain discipline procedures for students during the school day and at schoolsponsored events
Supervise and evaluate extracurricular programs
Maintain confidentiality as outlined in district policies
Oversee the building grounds and facilities and report maintenance needs to the Director of Facilities
Engage families and community partners in meaningful and authentic ways
Communicate regularly and transparently with the Superintendent staff students and families
Identify and support professional development opportunities for staff and personal leadership growth
Assist with the development and oversight of school and grant budgets
Represent the school and its interests to external stakeholders
Promote and celebrate school successes activities and achievements
Support a positive inclusive school culture aligned with district values such as community accountability professionalism and student success
Ensure full compliance with board policies and administrative regulations
Supervise and evaluate assistant principals certified teachers and support staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Learning
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Educational Leadership or School Administration
Holds or is eligible to obtain an Indiana Administrators License
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school leadership position
3 to 5 years of teaching experience preferred
