Job Description

The Staff Attorney assists with providing legal services to the organization in the areas of transactions real estate law legislative changes litigation and various business transactions and research. This position will work collaboratively with organizational leadership under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer to insure adherence to Federal and State laws and well as various regulatory agencies and requirements.

This is a hybrid opportunity and may require to report to the Merced Administration office two to three times a month.

Schedule is Monday Friday 8:00am 5:00pm

Compensation: $161000.00 $178000.00 Annual Salary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate thirdparty contracts and provider agreements.
  • Provide legal services in areas including regulatory compliance pharmacy compliance privacy and security intellectual property and contracts
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient record and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
  • Regularly review regulations and statutes to ensure compliance and propose necessary changes.
  • Update policies and procedures to reflect current laws and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with accreditation programs and site visits related to clinic and pharmacy operations
  • Provide regular updates to associated Counsel on legal matters.
  • Develop positive relationships with administrative clinic and pharmacy staff as well as patients and vendors.
  • Attend and defend depositions of GVHC providers.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and provide legal input as needed.
  • Assist with similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels) on rare occasions.
  • Make fine visual distinctions upon proofreading written documents and viewing information on a computer screen.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in person and in writing.
  • Digital dexterity to assemble retrieve and replace files.
  • Communicate by telephone.
  • Endure prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Speak clearly and articulate information

Work Environment

The physical environment requires the employee to work indoors primarily in an office setting. The noise level inside is quiet to average. Use of general office equipment is required on a daily basis. Travel may be required at times.

Education/Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of attorney client relationships applicable to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Principles of legal writing.
  • Problem identification analysis and evaluation.
  • Principles of effective writing and verbal presentation.
  • Computer information systems including personal computer applications work processing and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of computerized legal research system(s).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of 340B programs and compliance preferred.
  • Exercise effective judgment sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Valid California drivers license vehicle insurance acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.

Education/Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Active license to practice law in California including continuing education requirements.
  • Three years experience practicing law preferably in transactions and contracts and healthcare law preferred.
