Access & Recovery Outreach Practitioner


People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking an ARC Outreach Practitioner to join our Access & Recovery Center (ARC) Outreach Team based out of our dropin center in St. Paul. The ARC Outreach Team simultaneously embeds ARMHS and Outreach services for adults treating individuals experiencing housing instability and cooccurring mental health illnesses. We utilize a personcentered team approach to help clients meet their goals and better manage overall wellness and mental health. We offer a different approach to homeless outreach utilizing expertise across multiple programs to address cooccurring conditions of mental health substance use and/or other complexities. This role requires candidates to provide street outreach and engage with clients both in the community and at our dropin center meeting individuals where they are at.


Schedule: FullTime Monday Friday 7:00am 3:30pm. There is some flexibility in the schedule. Mandatory hours from 7:00am to 12:00pm are required for the dropin center.


Location: ARC Team DropIn Center 317 York Ave St. Paul MN 55130 and the St. Paul area to meet with clients in the community.

Hiring Range Wage varies based on qualifications.

  • Mental Health Practitioner I: $22.00/hour$23.76/hour
  • Mental Health Practitioner II: $24.20/hour$26.14/hour

Main Job Duties:

  • Provide street Outreach to people living unsheltered in encampments and other community locations to actively engage assess and connect individuals living on the streets with essential services resources and support to address their immediate needs and facilitate pathways to stability.
  • Using personcentered principles actively engage clients in their mental health recovery and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
  • Facilitate and conduct individual services that address a variety of needs and health concerns for the client. May facilitate and conduct group interventions if applicable.
  • Provide collateral information for conduct interviews and gather information to inform treatment planning planofcare reviews and discharge plans as needed or directed.
  • Document interactions and interventions with clients according to program requirements into the organizations Electronic Health Record (EHR) and/or recordkeeping system.
  • Provide crisis intervention and deescalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
  • Participate in coordination of services through the recognition of the multiple needs of the client with other providers in the community in an effort to provide necessary resources to the client.
  • Provide various skillbuilding teaching and/or coaching as it relates to the individuals goal and/or treatment plan.
  • These duties are to be performed during regularly scheduled shifts unless noted otherwise (awake).
  • Assist with completing necessary client intake and admission paperwork and providing program orientation if applicable.
  • Assist with the preparation service and clearing of client/program meals that are in accordance with program scheduling and with sanitation nutrition and safety standards if applicable.
  • Responsible for the daily housekeeping and general cleanliness of program and workstation in accordance with organization and programdirected requirements.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Education and Experience (Mental Health Practitioner I):

  • High school diploma and:
    • 4000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental Illness Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities OR:
    • 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4000 hours of experience is met

OR

  • Has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and
    • Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields OR;
    • Has 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness.

OR

  • Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science or related field
    • Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields OR;
    • Has 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness.

AND

  • Must be free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact if applicable.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior experience working with people with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
  • Prior experience working with individuals experiencing hosing instability or homelessness.
  • Candidates that qualify as a Mental Health Practitioner II preferred (see qualifications below):
    • Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science or related field; AND Has proof of 4000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness;
    • OR Masters Degree in behavioral science or related field
    • OR in lieu of a bachelors degree in a behavioral science/related field has proof of 10000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness.
