Job Description

Job Summary:
The Sheriff Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment within the Sheriffs Department including the Jail. This role includes performing preventive maintenance tasks troubleshooting issues and ensuring all systems are functioning properly to support the operations of the department. The individual selected for this position will work alongside the current Maintenance employee for a period of up to one year to receive handson training and gain a comprehensive understanding of the role with the intent of fully taking over the position upon completion of the training period.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
Proven experience in maintenance and repair work particularly in a law enforcement or public safety setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems electrical systems HVAC plumbing and other building systems.
Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Good physical condition to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects if needed.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and must not have any criminal history in order to work within the secure areas of the Sheriffs Office.

Responsibilities:
Conduct routine inspections of Sheriffs Office facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
Perform repairs on plumbing electrical HVAC and other systems as needed.
Complete preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment functions properly.
Keep accurate records of maintenance work repairs and inspections.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
