Job Title:Construction & Maintenance Project Specialist
Location:Electric City WA
Closes: Continuous.Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting February 5th 2025. We strongly recommend applying as soon as possible.

Position works five 5 days a week 8 hours a day. Core working hours are typically 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday Friday. This position requires travel and overnight travel between parks and statewide for meetings training and other field work.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Construction & Maintenance Supervisor or Assistant Area Manager Park Ranger 3 this position performs advanced skill level work in various trades accomplishing routine planned and emergency maintenance and may serve as the maintenance and project contact for Steamboat Rock and associated park managed facilities and properties.

This position coordinates and works cooperatively with area and park staff is responsible for project identification planning development and completing projects of a routine and nonroutine nature (including emergency and urgent repairs) as well as oversee maintenance and operation of agency owned equipment tools buildings and facilities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

OR
  • **Four 4 years of advanced level experience in two 2 or more of the construction/building trades to include: building maintenance repair remodeling construction duties and mechanical/machinery operation.
**Two 2 years of technical or vocational training or education in a building/construction trade may substitute for up to two 2 years of the required experience.

AND
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Valid Washington State drivers license.
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Wastewater Operator Group 1 or Wastewater Operator intraining certificate within first 12 months of employment.
  • Public Pesticide Operators License within the first 12 months of employment.
Required Knowledge Skills Abilities and Perspectives:
  • Ability to work independently while using good judgement and problemsolving skills in decision making.
  • Ability to lead lowerlevel staff.
  • Awareness and willingness to follow safety policies protocols.
  • Promotes cooperation and an eagerness and capacity to learn new skills.
  • Selfstarter who can see a project through to completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working for Washington State Parks or a similar parks and recreation entity.
  • Advanced level experience driving and operating a variety of vehicles and light to heavy equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with various hand & power tools.
  • Intermediate technical knowledge and expertise in construction installation and problemsolving issues impacting agency facilities sites and systems.
  • Beginner skills and experience with the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word Outlook and Excel.
  • Beginner project management experience to include planning purchasing and completion of tasks.
  • Experience organizing work projects to include time management multitasking and communication.
  • Knowledge and application of building codes and all other rules and regulations governing safety repair and maintenance and construction of facilities and tasks.
UNIFORM INFORMATION:
All Construction & Maintenance Specialist are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Construction & Maintenance Specialist and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks employee. All Construction & Maintenance Specialists will receive 6 shirts within the first year 2 shirts per calendar year after the first year) 1 jacket every 3 years 1 baseball cap every year 1 safety vest every 3 years and a clothing stipend of $200 per year and a $250 boot stipend every 2 years. Uniform stipends are intended to offset the cost of clothing worn in the workplace such as pants boots raingear etc.
