Job Description:
The Sr Quality Manager will be responsible for providing Quality leadership and managing QA teams that support multiple business unit multiple technologies: ICs discrete and system/module product lines. Focus will be on growing and developing a team processes systems and suppliers to expand Microchips product offering and support for the Aerospace and Defense market.
This includes coordinating and aligning efforts to implement and integrate aerospace and defense compliant systems and processes into the Microchip ecosystem. Support quality site mangers to develop and manage quality systems customer quality manufacturing quality supplychain monitoring process development and quality initiatives.
Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Aerospace and Defense leadership and process development and integration:
- Working across the organization to establishing and structure Quality Management systems and processes to support Aerospace and Defense products and Systems and Module products.
- Customer Quality: Coordinating the reach out to customers to understand their requirements and issues establish joint improvement initiatives. Collect customer feedback and work with the quality team to implement improvements.
- Agency Management: Support ongoing communications with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)
- Supplier Quality: Develop processes and supplier quality support for Aerospace and development requirements. Flow down and auditing to MILPRF requirements. Auditing measuring and monitoring continual improvement and corrective action support for Aerospace and defense requirements and to supply factory/product knowledge.
- Regulatory compliance: Support/develop processes to ensure compliance of aerospace and development regulatory requirements.
- Development and New Product Development work with teams to address relevant MILSPEC and MILPRF requirements including qualification QML certifications. Understand requirements of RCTA DO178 and DO264 to support NPI projects.
- Manage manufacturing process certification to MILPRF requirements implementation of requirements to product milspec parts.
- Manage and ensure compliance of the Technical Review board process for milprf certified products and locations.
Support Site Quality in the following:
- Site quality systems (QMS) development and continual improvement working within the site teams to maintain ISO9001 AS9100 certifications and other industry standards.
- Customer Failure Analysis requests creation of 8D to determine root cause implementing corrective/preventive actions for returns and/or complaints.
- Reliability activities during new product introduction qualification planning MTBF/FIT calculations
- Manufacturing by completing in process inspections MRB fault analysis root cause CAPA awareness training.
- Supplychain SCAR process with corrective actions for nonconforming materials new material/product first article assessments/test plans review potential new suppliers through surveys and onsite audits.
- Process engineering with development and implementation of new processes including documentation and personnel training.
- Provide factory awareness training for ESD and FOD programs as well as provide operator specialist certifications to IPC610 and JSTD001 quality requirements.
- Maintain and develop procedures and processes to improve overall product and process quality
- Supporting NPI activities creation of Quality Plans setting Key Characteristics (KC) identify and education team on RISK (FMEA) during NPI process
- Supervising quality teams (Quality Engineers and Inspectors) monitoring and implementing GMP and Key Product/Process Indicators (KPIs)
- Monitoring and evaluating internal production processes Internal and Process Auditing
- Engaging with customers and gathering product feedback and implementing control plans to address customer needs
- Reporting to upper management on quality standard and product issues
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Degree requirement: technical bachelors degree minimum EE/ME
- Years of experience: Quality management experience 10 years
- Manufacturing experience: ICs boards and systems 510 years
- Demonstrated skills in employee development and delegation
- Demonstrate skills in working with business customers and suppliers on continual improvement.
- Aerospace and defense manufacturing and/or quality experience highly desirable. Exposure to MILPRF certifications a plus.
- Automotive or Medical manufacturing and/or quality experience a plus.
- Experience with customer audits visits or improvement initiatives needed.
- Process development roadmap development project management a plus.
- Product qualification to mil standards preferred automotive or medical experience acceptable.
- Knowledge of ESD FOD counterfeit prevention and control processes and training a plus.
- AS9100 certification quality management development and continual improvement highly desirable.
- Trade compliance and CMMC knowledge and training are a plus
- Developing and providing quality metrics and initiatives inputs to top management for all A&D product lines.
- Help facilitate continual improvement and learning culture across all functional areas through training and communication of quality initiatives
