National Grid is currently seeking Rated Lineworkers 1/C and 2/C) for our Massachusetts West locations West (Central) Worcester Spencer Leominster andWest Monson Athol Northampton North Adams Great Barrington.

What Youll Do

Youll be responsible to build and maintain the electrical power system requiring several years of field experience. This advanced role involves constructing maintaining and repairing electrical distribution and transmission systems above and below ground. Duties include working at heights as well as climbing poles and lifting heavy equipment. Responsibilities encompass operating aerial and excavation equipment troubleshooting system issues setting transformers and completing documentation and reports.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform all duties of a Journeyperson 1/C or 2/C as applicable.
  • Maybe required to handle substances considered hazardous.
  • Follow all National Grid environmental policies.
  • Occasionally direct and train overhead line crew personnel.
  • Maintain various records and procure all stock as needed
  • Install and remove common meters on single phase services as required.
  • Contribute to crew productivity safety and knowledge of the job.
  • Be capable to act as Field Control Authority and assume responsibility for Red Tags

Qualifications

  • Must be experienced as a Lineworker 1/C or 2/C as demonstrated by proficiency testing and past performance appraisals.
  • Must have a First or Second Class Lineworker Certification (Please attach a copy with your Resume)
  • CDL A preferred but not required (Must be able to obtain and maintain a CDL Aonce hired)
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all Safety Standards.
  • Retain appropriate qualifications on the National Grid Switching and Tagging list.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all Construction Operating and Maintenance Standards and Safety Standards and Procedures.
  • Be proficient with the use of electronic devices and maintain various records reports and forms regarding payroll materials used and condition of plant tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly operate vehicles tools and equipment assigned to the department.
  • Furnish an acceptable means of offhour contact by telephone.
  • Retain a valid motor vehicle operators license which does not restrict driving as to type of transmission or hours of operation.
  • Must maintain a DOT health certificate and a System hoisting certificate.
  • Must be able to be on call within 24 hours to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities work hours and location. Emergency Restoration assignments include a wide range of activities and support.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers needs is part of every employees role. In the event of a storm or emergency all employees are subject to Storm Duty or Emergency restoration regardless of their position.

Pay Rate:Pay rate will be determined based on lineworker certificate candidate possesses at time of offer.

1/C $54.49

2/C $42.18

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation (DOT) covered positions including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such the Companys testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited or alcohol for recreational or medical purposes will remain in effect for these safetysensitive DOT covered positions.

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
