You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailA technical sales engineercombines technical knowledge with sales skills. The emphasis of the work variesdepending on the level of technical knowledge needed to sell products andservices and respond effectively to clients queries.
To ensure clients andtheir own companys needs are met technical sales engineers liaise regularlywith other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range ofdepartments such as research development design purchasing production andquality as well as senior company managers.
Typical work activities
Tasks typically involve:
searching for new clients who might benefit fromcompany products or services and maximising customer potential in designatedregions;
travelling to visit potential clients;
developing and growing longterm relationshipswith customers;
managing and interpreting customer requirements speaking with clients to understand anticipate and meet their needs;
persuading clients that a product or servicebest satisfies their needs in terms of quality price and delivery;
calculating client quotations;
negotiating tender and contract terms to meetboth client and company needs;
negotiating and closing sales by agreeing termsand conditions;
offering aftersales support services;
administering client accounts;
analysing costs and sales;
preparing reports for head office;
meeting regular sales targets;
recording and maintaining client contact data;
coordinating sales projects;
supporting marketing activities by attendingtrade shows conferences and other marketing events;
making technical presentations and demonstratinghow a product meets client needs;
providing presales technical assistance andproduct education;
liaising with other members of the sales teamand other technical experts;
solving client problems;
helping in the design of custommade products;
providing training and producing supportmaterial for other members of the sales team.
Candidatesneed to show evidence of the following:

independence.
Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electronics andCommunication or Instrumentation or BSc Electronics.
23 years sales experience and/or designengineering
Distribution experience preferred
Must have excellent written and verbalcommunication/interpersonal skills
Requires a selfstarter who has the ability toprioritize multitask and deal with pressure
Time management organization and customerservice skills
Excellent presentation design and deliveryskills as well as ability to drive programs and manage projects
Ability to sell negotiate persuade andinfluence.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships atall levels of customer and supplier
