GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Knowledge of K12 Special Education
Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction
Knowledge of standardized assessment administration/interpretation/diagnosis
Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the districts communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrate a commitment to advocate for the needs of all students especially students with disabilities and the need to educate them in a least restrictive environment.
2. Supports implementation of best practices for inclusive education for students served by special education kindergarten through transition program.
3. Supports implementation of culturally responsive social emotional learning and trauma informed teaching practices and antibias education.
4. Provide education assessments and written reports.
5. Uses a variety of assessment tools to assess academic skills cognitive ability psychological processing adaptive skills social skills and emotional/behavioral status.
6. Plans and develops programs or services for the needs of students through consultations with district personnel community members parents and outside agencies.
7. Provides technical assistance to district staff relative to program development instructional methods materials equipment and facilitation.
8. Monitors IEP process in assigned buildings to assure compliance with federal state and district rules. Provides technical assistance and training when necessary.
9. Develops and manages private school service plans.
10. Facilitates and acts as a district representative at problem solving IEP and eligibility meetings.
11. Discusses and collaborates about district special education programs personnel and students with building administrators
12. Coordinates with building principals regarding caseloads schedules special education transportation needs and special education state assessment processes.
13. Facilitates Manifestation Determination meetings.
14. Mentors and supports new special education case managers.
15. Plans and provides relevant professional development to small and large groups.
16. Facilitates team meetings and participates in department PLC.
17. Collaborates to support completion of required state collections and improvement plans.
18. Monitors assessment practices across the district for students with special needs.
19. Works collaboratively to implement district and program initiatives.
20. Use technology fluently to manage all components of the job requirements.
21. Works to establish open lines of communication with students parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students.
22. Maintain regular ontime attendance
23. Willingness to be a contributing member of a highly effective team by demonstrating commitment flexibility positivity collaboration and sense of humor.
24. Submits reports records and assignments promptly and effectively meeting all district timelines.
25. Attends and participates in weekly department meetings.
26. Performs related duties as assigned by the director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Oregon Personnel Services license with Special Education endorsement.
2. Ability to work with children parents and school personnel.
3. Dependable transportation current drivers license and good driving record.
