Job Description
CASUAL LABOURERS (SUMMER STUDENTS) Division Schools
These positions are open to all internal and external candidates. Prior to employment successful applicants must provide supporting documents as outlined on our New Employees page.
We are looking to hire 2 temporary Casual Labourers (Summer Students) to support our Division Schools. These assignments are to commence May 1 2025 and terminate August 29 2025. These positions are covered under the CUPE 290 collective agreement.
The Summer Student/Labourer assists Journeypersons and Maintenance Specialists in building construction maintenance and repairs; receives daily tasks from the Lead Maintenance Specialist or designate; assists in the transportation of materials equipment furniture and other goods within the Division. The nature of the work may require strenuous physical effort in completion of duties alongside maintenance team members.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma;
First Aid Certificate;
WHMIS Certificate;
Fire extinguisher use;
Mobile Aerial Work Platform training;
Confined Space Entry and Rescue training;
Skid Steer Operator training;
Fall Protection training;
Ladder Safety training;
OH&S training.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License;
Satisfactory Drivers Abstract;
Ability to operate a vehicle with trailer;
Effective and proven team skills and ability to work independently;
Good mechanical aptitude in the operation of power hand tools motorized equipment and vehicles;
Good knowledge of materials tools and equipment related to building construction and groundskeeping;
Computer skills (email work orders);
Professional conduct appearance and attitude.
The starting rate for this position is $19.11 per hour plus 4 vacation pay.
