We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Lead Biomedical Scientist to join our clients innovative team in Cambridge. Our company is dedicated to providing cuttingedge diagnostic technologies aimed at the early detection of gastrointestinal diseases with a primary focus on oesophageal cancer and Barretts oesophagus. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our histopathology service contributing to both clinical and research efforts while leading a team of Medical Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Scientists.
What will your responsibilities be:
The Lead Biomedical Scientist will undertake technical work required for clinical and research services including routine histopathology. Responsibilities include managing one or more processes or projects within the laboratory preparing and dissecting clinical specimens under guidelines from The Royal College of Pathologists and participating in External Quality Assessment schemes. The role involves entering confidential patient data on LIMS reporting stock/equipment shortages implementing company policies related to confidentiality health and safety COSHH infection control and local safety rules. Preparation of data for management presentations ensuring compliance with ISO 15189 standards and participating in internal audits are also key duties. The Lead Biomedical Scientist will manage LSs and MLAs including onboarding appraisals and inservice training while maintaining high standards of laboratory practice in line with HCPC and ISO 15189 policies.
