We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Lead Biomedical Scientist to join our clients innovative team in Cambridge. Our company is dedicated to providing cuttingedge diagnostic technologies aimed at the early detection of gastrointestinal diseases with a primary focus on oesophageal cancer and Barretts oesophagus. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our histopathology service contributing to both clinical and research efforts while leading a team of Medical Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Scientists.

What will your responsibilities be:

The Lead Biomedical Scientist will undertake technical work required for clinical and research services including routine histopathology. Responsibilities include managing one or more processes or projects within the laboratory preparing and dissecting clinical specimens under guidelines from The Royal College of Pathologists and participating in External Quality Assessment schemes. The role involves entering confidential patient data on LIMS reporting stock/equipment shortages implementing company policies related to confidentiality health and safety COSHH infection control and local safety rules. Preparation of data for management presentations ensuring compliance with ISO 15189 standards and participating in internal audits are also key duties. The Lead Biomedical Scientist will manage LSs and MLAs including onboarding appraisals and inservice training while maintaining high standards of laboratory practice in line with HCPC and ISO 15189 policies.

Qualifications and Experiences:

• BSc or equivalent in a biological discipline (Essential)
• Registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Essential)
• Practical experience working in a pathology laboratory (Essential)
• Experience in cytological techniques (Desirable)
• Team and staff management (Desirable)
• Laboratory bench skills (Essential)
• Ability to maintain good laboratory records (Essential)
• Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and that of others (Essential)
• Computer literacy including word processing spreadsheet and database management (Essential)
• Knowledge of histopathology involving an understanding of relevant theory and/or principles of laboratory processes (Essential)
• Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations human tissue governance and how to apply them in the laboratory environment (Essential)
• Excellent communication skills (Essential)
