Job Description

Job Description:Individual will be responsible for teaching the MISDdesigned Summer Scholars Program an instructional schoolbased program targeting literacy and math intervention for students entering Grades 25 with identified needs in literacy and math. Students will be engaged in comprehensive and meaningful literacy and math instruction using evidencebased practices to address their individual needs. The goal of the Summer Scholars Program is to strengthen literacy and math achievement.

Position Department:Summer School

Report to:Billie Sczepaniak Director of Curriculum and Educational Services

Teacher Hours:

  • 8:00am11:20am (including breakfast and lunch supervision)
  • 40 minutes of daily paid prep time
    • Total hours per day: 4

Teacher Days:

  • Student Program Dates: June
  • PreProgram setup: June 12; 9:00am12:00pm 3 hours)
  • MISD InPerson Training (compensation provided by MISD) select one Literacy date AND one Math Date to attend.
    • Literacy: June 10 12:00pm3:00pm OR June 10 4:30pm7:30pm OR June 11 4:30pm7:30pm OR June 12 8:30am11:30am*. *If you attend the June 12 8:3011:30am training you will be allowed to adjust your preprogram setup time.
    • Math: June 10 8:30am11:30am OR June 10 4:30pm7:30pm OR June 12 12:00pm3:00pm OR June 12 4:307:30pm

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  2. Exemplary experience in teaching elementary literacy
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and engage students
  4. Enthusiastic energetic and positive professional with a growth mindset
  5. Must be available during the time requirements of the position
  6. Certification in CPR and first aidrequired

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide effective instructional methods based on a daily schedule outlined in training
  2. Administer pre and post assessments and submit to district camp coordinator
  3. Submit attendance records
  4. Plan appropriate instruction to support diverse student needs
  5. Supervise students during breakfast and lunch

Expectations:

It is imperative that chosen teachers are enthusiastic positive professionals who possess the energy to make a difference in student learning in a short time. The social emotional development of all young children is the key to maximizing the benefits of educational experiences at any time.

Rate of Pay Note: $25/hour (per REA Contract) $15/hour Bonus to Address Learning Loss $40/hour
