JOB ANNOUNCEMENT & DESCRIPTION
Sacred Heart Community Service is seeking an organized communityfocused professional to join our warehouse team. The Essential Services Coordinator plays a key role in delivering food and clothing services to the community working alongside staff and volunteers. This position involves interacting with the public building relationships with volunteers and engaging communitymembers in warehouse and organizational activities.
The ideal candidate will be selfdirected adaptable and skilled at managing physically demanding tasks. Strong communication multitasking and conflict resolution abilities are essential along with a compassionate and respectful approach to all situations. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Coordinator plays a key role in Sacred Hearts daily operations managing the flow of donations through our Clothes Closet Pantry and Donation Station. As a publicfacing team member this position represents the heart of our missionwelcoming community members seeking food and other basic needs donors and partner organizations who help us meet essential needs and uphold human dignity.
With empathy and cultural awareness the Essential Services Coordinator helps create a respectful traumainformed environment for all. This role also leads volunteers by recruiting training and mentoring them with energy compassion and a strong belief in their potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Warehouse Operations 4555
Oversee the daytoday operations of the Essential Services Warehouse including sets up and/or breaking down of the Clothes Closet Donation Station and Pantry for daily operations; coordinating and managing food and clothingdeliveries/donations; executing SHCS ES systematic food distribution processes; managing food and clothing inventory; minimizing food waste.
Operates warehousespecific equipment such as the electric pallet jacks and walkbehind forklifts.
Implements and upholds department and agency policies and operational procedures pertaining to safety
Works with the Warehouse Manager to ensure the implementation and compliance with all relevant partnership agreements.
Provides conflict resolution support when necessary to ensure that all members are treated with dignity compassion and respect always.
Member Engagement 1520
Conducts outreach to new and existing members to recruit welcome and orient them to the Essential Services programs.
Trains engages follows up and recognizes volunteer participation and leadership in programs and campaigns using meaningful experiences as opportunities for the facilitation of transformational relationships and deeper involvement.
Ensures member adherence to the SHCS code of conduct.
Acts as a liaison between the Volunteer Office and warehouse team to ensure strengthbased performance management and redirection as needed.
Plans and coordinates bilingual/multilingual outreach to volunteers; organizes volunteer meetings to build an effective service and promotes participation and leadership of members and volunteers.
Member Development 1015
Engages in advocacy activities and mobilizes participation of members in SHCS policy campaigns.
Conducts member 1:1s for member leadership development.
Cultivates the involvement of stakeholders to provide input training and program needs through program advisory committees and supports adapting service delivery accordingly.
Empowers volunteers and program participants providing clear vision encouragement modeling and training in alignment with SHCSs vision mission and values.
Oversee daily operations and volunteer activities in the Department ensuring high quality volunteerled service opportunities that meet program participants needs.
Promote leadership and selfsufficiency within a social justice framework.
Leadership 510
Supports the planning and implementation of organizationwide programs events training and outreach efforts such as the holiday program packaback and solidarity summit.
Participates in staff meetings retreats trainings and other team and organizational events.
Performs other duties as assigned including support for other Essential Services programs as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong commitment to our vision of uniting our community to ensure every child and adult is free from poverty.
Associates degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
One or more years of demonstrated success working with volunteer groups or interns.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Bilingual in English and Spanish Vietnamese or Mandarin
Flexible compassionate and supportive attitude.
Excellent verbal written and presentation skills.
Detailoriented ability to multitask provide quick responses and highly organized.
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Google Suite.
Demonstrated success working in teams and the ability to work independently with limited supervision when necessary.
Ability to respond professionally to intense interpersonal situations with upset community members in moments of crisis.
Available to work approximately one Saturday every four to six weeks.
Ability to work in a physically demanding job and lift up to 30 lbs. without assistance and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Willingness and ability to operate an electric pallet jack and forklift with training.
Ability to work some weekends and evenings.
The position requires computer use or standing for up to 68 hours per day. Must complete a DMV and a background check and qualify to be insured under SHCS driving policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with data management systems such as Salesforce.
OSHA training and certification.
Experience with and knowledge of best practices in food safety.
Experience and training in the safe use of pallet jacks and warehouse logistics.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Essential Services Coordinator reports to the Essential Services Warehouse Manager.
COMPENSATION:
This is a nonexempt fulltime hourly position beginning pay at $25.00/hr.
