Job Description
Qualifications/Knowledge:

a Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards
and Training Act
a Knowledge of modern firefighting techniques and equipment
a Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to the control and prevention of fires
a Knowledge of Department and County policies and procedures and Federal State and Local laws and regulations
a Knowledge of computers and jobrelated software programs
a Knowledge of the capabilities and uses of emergency vehicles and equipment
a Skill in operating emergency vehicles and equipment
a Skill in the use of radio/communications equipment
a Skill in planning organization and decision making
a Skill in oral and written communication
Requirements
Responds to fire alarms and uses firefighting skills to evaluate and carry out actions to most efficiently control the emergency
at hand; assists with the fighting of structural fires
a Operates a variety of pumps ladders hoses and other equipment at the scene of fire rescue and other emergency incidents
a Performs initial patient screening and provides emergency medical care as needed
a Completes required reports detailing fire responses
a Completes required training and maintains required certifications
a Inspects equipment to ensure that it is in proper working order; washes and cleans equipment on a regular basis; repairs and
performs routine maintenance on equipment
a Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies aboard emergency vehicles; conducts regular inspections
a Provides fire prevention information to the public; assists in teaching fire safety and other classes; provides tours of the fire
station
a Performs housekeeping grounds keeping and building maintenance duties
a Conducts station and apparatus tours for school and other community groups
a Participates in public education events
a Conducts preincident planning on commercial and residential structures as requested
a
