Job Description

Xometry is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director Technical Program Management to lead and transform our technology delivery practices. This role is critical in driving organizational change enhancing our Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and building a highperforming Technical Program Management (TPM) team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading complex technical programs driving process improvements and fostering a culture of collaboration and agility.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizational Change Management:
    • Lead the implementation of effective 3month planning cycles to improve predictability and agility.
    • Drive initiatives to gradually shift towards higher spans of control within the engineering organization.
    • Develop and implement clear career models for Engineering Machine Learning (ML) Data Science (DS) and Data Engineering functions.
    • Level up companywide communication regarding the progress of various technology efforts.
  • SDLC Optimization:
    • Define and implement clear stages and exit criteria for each phase of the SDLC (planning discovery design implementation release).
    • Ensure consistent application of best practices across all engineering teams.
    • Drive continuous improvement in SDLC processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Technical Program Management Leadership:
    • Build and lead a team of highly technical Staff/Principal level TPMs to partner with Engineering Managers on major platform systems.
    • Establish clear TPM practices and define the separation of responsibilities between Product Management and Program Management.
    • Empower the Product team to shift left into business/domain/opportunity discovery and problem analysis.
    • Identify and address areas where Product Management involvement may be redundant due to technical maturity.
    • Hire 23 staff/principle level TPMs within the first 23 months.
  • Strategic Planning & :
    • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve program delivery and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with Engineering Product and other stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
    • Drive the adoption of Agile methodologies and best practices.
    • Establish clear TPM practices and separation of product management v/s program management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technical program management with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC principles and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in driving organizational change and process improvement.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and manage highperforming teams.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience building career ladders and leveling teams.
  • Experience building and managing staff and principle level TPM teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a fastpaced highgrowth technology environment.
  • Experience with AI/ML or dataintensive applications.
  • Familiarity with cloudbased technologies and architectures.
