POSITION SUMMARY:

The New York Film Academy NY Teen Summer Program is looking for an organized skilled and efficient seasonal Equipment Manager for the Teen Summer Camps. The Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Teen Equipment Room from the build out to coordinating and maintaining equipment used on a daily basis.

New York Film Academys Teen Summer Camps provide intensive programs in filmmaking acting screenwriting musical theatre documentary and photography for campers of ages 14 to 17 years old.

Effective Date: PartTime (ASAP) FullTime Seasonal 6/23/2025 8/13/2025

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement standard operating process for equipment checkouts for days

  • Determine equipment needs for classrooms and ensure classes are prepped on a daily basis

  • Catalog equipment and maintain inventory for the duration of the summer camp program

  • Ensure equipment is in working condition and process replacement requests when needed

  • Create and maintain effective channels of communication with the Teen Office Teen Edit Lab and Main Equipment Room

  • Maintain various logistics necessary to ensure the smooth running of production

  • Assist TA Coordinator in the hiring process for TAs (technical assistants)

  • Assist TA Coordinator with an onboarding process for newly hired TAs including training orientation uniform distribution etc

  • Establish & oversee of safety protocols and shooting guidelines to ensure an effective production environment that guarantees quality deliverables for campers

  • Assist with the build out before the program begins

  • Assist with the breakdown after the program ends

  • Support the Teen Office with facilities and operations needs on a needs basis

  • Supervise camper production crews on location shoots and offer technical assistance to campers to ensure their proper and safe use of equipment

  • Provide handson assistance in a classroom setting

  • Other duties as assigned by Teen Camp Director Assistant Director or senior management

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong technical grasp of digital cinematography and of basic light setup including 3point lighting basic power distribution light control with gels etc

  • Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC 5D Mark II C300 shotgun mics tripods onboard shock mounts cstands boom poles etc

  • Ability to work hard respond to emergencies and always maintain the safety and educational environment for the students

  • Understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multistep written and oral instructions

  • Perform basic math

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • A working grasp of Final Cut Avid and Adobe Premiere is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including camper faculty and staff

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

EXPERIENCE EDUCATION CERTIFICATION:

  • High School/GED required

  • Film/Video Production Experience

  • Experience providing technical support on film shoots and/or art events required.

  • Prior Equipment Room Experience is preferred

  • Experience working in a fast paced multitasking result driven environment

  • Attention to detail and team member mentality

  • Intermediate proficiency Microsoft Office Suites and GSuite

  • Experience and comfortability with students ages 1417
