Position OverviewThe Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for creating an environment that increases the quality of the experience for visitors to the KU Natural History Museum in Dyche Hall. They are required to greet visitors answer questions regarding the museum and surrounding areas and assist visitors with any needs they may have related to their visit. Visitor Services staff members are responsible for opening and closing the museum; restocking the museum gift shop and processing retail sales; tracking attendance and contributions; communicating and assisting with the museums Public Education department; and completing miscellaneous museum projects. Special events occur occasionally in the evenings and on weekends and the Visitor Services staff may be asked to assist with these programs.

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1 have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2 be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3 be enrolled in summer session or 4 be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
