Scope of work
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) possessing advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology and utilizing extensive patient assessment skills collaborates with all health team members to ensure the most optimal patient outcome. Performs all activities at an expanded level of perioperative nursing practice executed within the context of the nursing process. Intraoperatively the RNFA actively assists the surgeon performing observable technical behaviors (cognitive psycho motor and affective) based on an extensive body of scientific knowledge as specified in the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Core Curriculum for the RNFA.
Qualifications
Bachelors in Nursing Required
Completion of RNFA accredited program Required
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required
Nurse in OR (CNOR) CCI Competency and Credentialing Institute Required
RN First Assist Certified (CRNFA) Required
Surgical Assistant Certified (CSA) NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Required within 2 Years
