JOB SUMMARY
CrossCountry Freight Solutions is hiring a Regional Safety Manager. This position is responsible for oversight of all aspects of occupational safety management at assigned terminal locations ensuring implementation and compliance of safety programs and initiatives and communicating safety issues to the Director of Safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Create a positive and productive work atmosphere by communicating and behaving in a professional manner and working effectively as a team member with all employees.
- Reviews safety data regularly for gaps. Develops recommends and implements corrective measures required to ensure OSHA and DOT compliance.
- Serves as the first point of contact for the reporting of safety events at assigned terminal locations.
- Responds promptly to requests from terminal management to address timesensitive issues or concerns.
- Works with Operations Management to make critical timesensitive decisions that protect the welfare of all involved and minimize risk to the company.
- Conducts incident investigations to determine root cause(s) of an incident reports findings to senior leadership provides recommendations for employee training discipline and development to Operations Management and assigns corrective actions to reduce potential of recurrence.
- Works with Operations Management to develop safety related documents (Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) LockoutTagout (LOTO) procedures safe work plans etc.
- Reviews safetyrelated documents and provides feedback to Operations Management as needed.
- Reviews existing safety programs and provides updates to Safety Director as needed.
- Reports all incidents to the Safety Director and Risk Claims Manager immediately and works with the Risk Claims Manager to ensure that injured workers receive proper medical attention and determine when they can Return to Work (RTW) safely.
- Evaluates employee safety performance at each assigned terminal and takes appropriate action (coaching training monitoring etc. to address and correct unsafe acts and behaviors.
- Perform the essential duties of a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) coordinator as defined by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) which includes being the main point of contact for questions or incidents involving hazardous materials and understanding the essential requirements of HAZMAT at the terminal level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health Business Administration Emergency Management or equivalent experience
- Two years training experience preferred.
- Five years safety and loss prevention experience preferred.
- Excellent working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) presentation interpersonal and analytical skills required.
- Proficiency with personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software; Microsoft Windows Word Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
- Knowledge of analyzing safety data sets preferred.
