Job Description

Job Title: Teacher Technology Education

Location:Charlottedsville High School

Reports to: Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Technology Education Teacher who will provide engaging instruction that promotes problemsolving critical thinking and handson learning. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore technological concepts foster innovative thinking and prepare them for future careers in STEM fields. The teacher will also ensure that instruction aligns with state and national standards creating an environment that supports student growth and achievement.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan deliver and evaluate instructional activities aligned with the districts Technology Education curriculum.
  • Facilitate handson learning experiences that integrate STEM concepts including problemsolving projectbased learning and design processes.
  • Incorporate robotics 3D printing CAD or other design software into the curriculum to provide students with realworld technology applications.
  • Guide students in programming engineering and operating robotics systems fostering skills in coding mechanical design and teamwork.
  • Provide students opportunities to participate in the Technology Student Organization (TSA) and robotics competitions.
  • Assess student learning on an ongoing basis tailoring instruction to meet individual and group needs.
  • Utilize industrystandard tools technology and software to enhance learning experiences.
  • Maintain order and an engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty administrators and instructional assistants to design interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on student progress and foster homeschool collaboration.
  • Develop and iterate curriculum for new courses as needed aligning with district goals emerging technologies and student interests.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal state and local policies related to public education.
  • Manage and maintain classroom equipment materials and resources effectively including robotics kits 3D printers software and related technology.
  • Provide supervision during nonclassroom times including before/after school and during student activities.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional practices and stay current with technology and industry trends.
  • Promote awareness of STEM careers and encourage students to pursue technologyrelated pathways.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of STEM principles Technology Education robotics and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in using robotics kits (e.g. VEX LEGO Mindstorms or similar) 3D printing CAD software or other design tools.
  • Experience in curriculum development and the ability to adapt courses to emerging technologies and student needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a safe inclusive learning environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with students colleagues and parents.
  • Ability to assess and use data to improve student outcomes.
  • Experience developing and delivering engaging handson lessons.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Technology Education Engineering Robotics or a related STEM field.
  • A valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Technology Education (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Completion of an approved teacher preparation program in Technology Education or a Career Switcher Program.
  • Industry credential and/or a passing score on the Praxis 5051 Technology Education exam.

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:

Duties performed typically in school settings include classroom; gym cafeteria; auditorium; and recreational areas. Frequent walking standing light lifting up to 40 pounds and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction for special needs children may be necessary. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audiovisuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated by the building principal based on established district policies and guidelines.
