Department Summary

The Jordan Center for Journalism Advocacy and Innovation seeks a summer program coordinator to support the Jordan Institute for Life Skills and Wealth Creation. The Jordan Institute for Life Skills and Wealth Creation a unique summer program designed to complement traditional high school curricula.

Role Summary

Coordinates daytoday fiscal administrative and operational activities of a defined program or set of funded activities. Programs are usually focused to a single purpose may be scientific research educational or service oriented and may exist as a subset of an integrated funded program activity. Duties typically include assisting with grant planning and administration fiscal budgetary and/or other associated transactions program implementation and administration internal and external operational/administrative liaison program marketing and reporting.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Coordinating and overseeing the daily schedule of the summer program
  • Developing summer program rosters and communicating program specifics with students and parents
  • Working with teacher and the Institute director to develop content for lesson planning
  • Communicating course details such as daily schedules and grading with summer program teachers
  • Overseeing onsite staff and complete teacher evaluations
  • Creating a student feedback instrument and facilitate a plan to gather student feedback
  • Creating a teacher feedback instrument and facilitate a plan to gather teacher feedback
  • Addressing any onsite issues that arise such as discipline issues or teacher concerns
  • Working with the program director to ensure successful implementation of the summer

Essential Functions

These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Assists in managing daily operations of the projects programs or office to which assigned.
2. Establishes and/or maintains a recordkeeping system for programs projects or office to which assigned and enters data into records or into system databases as appropriate and as needed.
3. Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing projects.
4. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with state federal and private agencies as appropriate and as directed.
5. May coordinate events or conferences from planning and advertising to contracting for services from vendors to registration and event completion.
