Job Description

Position Overview: Middle School ELA Teacher

Creative Minds International PCS is currently seeking a Middle School ELA Teacher who can provide highly engaging rigorous and inclusive educational experiences to students daily.Candidates must have experience as a classroom teacher with a deep understanding of how to internalize and interpret Common Core Standards to plan deliver and assess standardbased instruction in reading writing speaking and listening.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Integration of Common Core State Standardsbased goals and objectives in ELA with whole group and small group instruction Savvas (ELA);
  • Establishing clear objectives for all ELA lessons units projects and assessments;
  • Using data to develop studentcentered and achievement focused lesson plans;
  • Providing an inviting exciting and innovative learning environment;
  • Meeting the needs interests and abilities for all students including students with disabilities ELL students and those who are gifted and talented;
  • Developing lesson plans that draw content from CMIPCS professional development in the areas of arts integration and child development to reinforce student learning;
  • Regularly observing students and taking anecdotal notes to inform planning in the arrangement of small groups classroom setup integration of students interests in learning activities and subsequent assessments;
  • Monitoring student progress in math through frequent formal and informal student evaluations recorded in online portfolio assessments;
  • Using a variety of instructional materials resources and experiences to enrich student learning;
  • Providing educational opportunities that reflect an understanding of students ability and interests;
  • Using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance creative problemsolving and evaluative thinking of students;
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance grades and performance;
  • Creating a learning environment that reflects the theme(s) being studied through displays of student work and teachercreated materials along with Project Based Learning (PBL);
  • Working with families to support the progress of individual students;
  • Valuing the importance of real life experiences and providing opportunities for studentinitiated explorations/activities related to math in the classroom throughout the day;
  • Using effective positive and respectful interpersonal communication skills;
  • Participates in school wide initiatives professional development and collaborative planning with colleagues;
  • Incorporating technology into instruction;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with the public
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to selfdirect and prioritize among competing goals exhibit flexibility and drive results.
  • Adept at thinking strategically translating plans into action and exhibiting excellent judgment.
  • Commitment to the success of each and every student;

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience administering the NWEAMAP;
  • Training in Google G Suite for Education
  • Experience working with linguistically and ethnically diverse student populations and children with developmental differences
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid District of Columbia Teaching Certificate or License (standard or provisional)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree required (Masters Degree in related field preferred)
  • 3 years of related experience preferred;
