The Laurel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a fulltime position of School Secretary beginning theschool year. This is a Level IV position with a current starting wage of $16.20 per hour and works 210 days per year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma and at least one year of responsible office experience.
- Demonstrate professional office skills; possess exceptional multitasking and organizational skills and basic accounting experience.
- Proficient computer/keyboarding and technology skills including basic knowledge of computer data entry Microsoft applications and experience with webbased applications.
- Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial work with accuracy and speed.
- Proficient operation of standard office equipment including computer terminal fax scanner and multiline phone.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Type at a net corrected speed of 40 wpm and demonstrate proper spelling grammar punctuation and composition.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form to students parents staff and community.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage time and responsibilities while maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs a wide variety of clerical and secretarial work including typing proofreading filing phones mailings and computer work.
- Maintains records forms and schedules for students and staff.
- Serves as receptionist and assists students staff and visitors concerning school policies procedures and regulations.
- Responds to student and parent inquiries and facilitates resolution through escalation when appropriate while employing discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
- Receives sorts and distributes mail and office correspondence.
- Assists superintendent principal or other administrator.
- Types routine memoranda and correspondence from general instruction and creates/updates reports records and other materials.
- Maintains accurate records ledgers and deposits pertaining to lunch accounts clubs and various other accounts.
- Attends meetings or conferences as requested and creates notes letters memos and reports as directed.
- Sorts indexes and files materials alphabetically numerically and by other predetermined categories.
- Dictates collates and assembles materials for distribution.
- Coordinates orients and directs substitute personnel.
- Creates and maintains multiple calendars including master schedules facility events school events and administrator appointments.
- Prepares and disseminates parental notices and information via email mail website and phone.
