Montgomery County Department of Recreation is a nationally recognized and awardwinning agency with a mission to provide high quality diverse and accessible communitybased programs activities and services that serve the recreation and leisure needs of the Montgomery County community. The department manages 39 facilities including recreation centers senior centers and indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities and provides thousands of programs such as outofschool activities aquatics classes youth and adult sports programs and leagues senior programs and therapeutic recreation.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking fornewly trained lifeguardsto join our team! This role is ideal for individuals who are excited abouttheir first job inaquatics.LifeguardIwill have the opportunity to work at both indoor and outdoor facilities.
AsaLifeguardIyou willbe responsible forthesafety of patrons enjoying the facility.You will ensure smooth operations across various aquatics programs. Specific duties will include:
Supervises patrons during recreational swim periods.
Enforces health and safety rules and regulations.
Rescues bathers indistress andadministersappropriate assistance.
Performs maintenance and cleaning duties.
Performs related duties as.
Administer lifesaving care when necessary.
Successful candidates shouldpossessthe following knowledgeskillsand abilities:
Certification in Lifeguard Training CPR First Aid and AED (must be obtained).
Strong communicationskills both verbal and written.
Ability todemonstrateswimming skills and work in the water for extended periods.
Ability to apply business English spelling grammar arithmetic and office procedures.
Additional Information
This position will be supervised bycareer staff at the facilityand stationed at Countyoperated aquatic facilities. Hours will vary depending on the operating schedule and may include evenings weekends and holidays.

The hourly rate for this seasonal position is $17.15 an hour!Experience:Some work experience as a participant or instructor in one or more recreation activities is preferred.

SPECIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Lifeguard CPR First Aid and AED certifications from the American Red Cross or other agency approved by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Aquatics positions require the Medical History Review with a Drug/Alcohol screen.
