Job Description

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and Curriculum. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Program (CLAS UP) is the central hub for academic advising student retention and services related to academic policies and curriculum management in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). The CLAS UP team oversees the General Education CLAS Core and all college majors minors and certificates.

The Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and Curriculum will report to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education and will lead efforts related to enrollment management and curriculum in the college. This role will work closely with all CLAS academic programs and departments on enrollment management and course planning will lead course planning for winter and summer sessions and will review and make recommendations on instructional resource requests that come to the college. Additionally this role will be the primary contact in CLAS for the faculty members who serve as Directors of Undergraduate Studies and for the Provosts Office related to curricular changes in CLAS and any associated Iowa Board of Regents paperwork. The Assistant Dean will supervise two positions in CLAS UP (Associate Director for Curriculum and Instruction and the Academic Assessment Coordinator) and will be part of the CLAS UP leadership team along with the three CLAS UP Directors.
