The Role
Are you a seasoned journalist with a passion for politics and a knack for compelling storytelling ABC Australias trusted source for news and current affairs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Political Producer to join our News Distribution team in Canberra.
In this pivotal role you will be at the forefront of shaping the nations political discourse ensuring that our audience stays informed and engaged with the latest developments and insights from the heart of the Australian political landscape. Your primary responsibility will be to produce highquality accurate and thoughtprovoking content across various platforms including television radio and digital.
The Job
- Develop and maintain federal political contacts across parties for key story access.
- Monitor political news across media platforms brief team on developments.
- Pitch research and write scripts for onair interviews adhering to ABC policies.
- Collaborate with Radio National Breakfast team on content angles and questioning.
- Contribute to Radio National Breakfasts digital presence.
- Work effectively in a team and independently.
- Generate diverse stories relevant to a broad Australian audience.
- Engage with outer suburban communities for relevant storytelling.

- Outstanding ability to generate original stories and secure highprofile interviews
- Highlevel editorial skills for national audience relevance
- Expertise in producing comprehensive political and policy briefs
- Proven ability to produce political interviews in fastpaced environments
- Strong understanding of social media for broadcasting and news content
- Exceptional communication and collaborative skills
